Pro unlocks the AI features in the app — the AI itself runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT key (billed by Anthropic or OpenAI, usually cents per request) or a model you self-host for free. No markup from us, ever.

Free is the whole app minus the AI and the pro export tools: the loupe picker, unlimited brand kits, website import (colors, logos, fonts, and the screenshot), the local palette generator, contrast checking, fonts, documents, iCloud sync, and .pocketcvi sharing. Pro adds the five AI features — written brand descriptions, official brand-guide scouting, palettes from a written brief, AI color naming, and premium brand-typeset design manuals — plus design-manual generation itself and swatch export to Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, PowerPoint and Keynote.
Pro unlocks the AI features inside Pocket CVI; the AI itself runs on a back-end you bring. Use a Claude or ChatGPT API key — billed to your provider account, typically a few cents per request — or point Pocket CVI at your own local model (Ollama, LM Studio) and pay nothing per request. Either way we never proxy your data or add a markup, which is exactly why Pro can be this cheap.
Neither. It's free forever, with no account, no watermark, and no collection limits. Everything that doesn't call an AI model is simply included.
Both include every future update, minor and major — no paid upgrades, ever. Lifetime (€99) works out cheaper than monthly (€5) after about 20 months and never renews; monthly is the low-commitment way to try the AI features on a real project first.
Yes — three days, no card required. Open Settings → License in the app, enter your email, and the AI features switch on. You'll still need an AI back-end to use them — a Claude or ChatGPT key, or your own local model. One trial per person.
Yes — one license covers up to five Macs. Each one activates itself the first time you enter the key. If you sell or retire a Mac, deactivate it in Settings → License on that machine and the slot is freed straight away.
Only to activate. After that your license is verified on your own Mac, so Pro keeps working on a plane, behind a firewall, or if our server is down. Pocket CVI checks in about once a day, and a failed check never switches Pro off. (The AI features themselves do need the internet — they call Anthropic or OpenAI.)
